SKY CINEMA – ‘AUTORE’ CHANNEL OPENER – ITALY

Commissioned by BDA Creative for Sky Cinema Italia, this channel opener was creatively directed, designed, shot and composited by Peter Sinclair. Inspired by the graphic language of Saul Bass and classic Hitchcock title sequences, the piece was created for Autore, a specialist movie channel showcasing some of Italy’s finest classic cinema.

The name Autore reflected the channel’s focus on distinctive filmmaking and carefully selected cinematic work. The concept followed a studio executive reviewing and choosing the strongest cuts for production, creating a visual metaphor for the channel itself: curating and presenting the best films for Sky Cinema audiences in Italy.

Peter oversaw the complete visual production, from set design and styling to performance direction and cinematography. The sequence was shot on 35mm film, allowing additional broadcast material to be created alongside the main channel opener and extending the visual identity across the wider presentation package.

The result was a stylish, cinematic piece that combined bold graphic design with classic film language, creating an identity well suited to Autore and its celebration of European cinema.
