YUMBOXDESIGN – SFX REEL

AI FX / Synthetic Motion was developed as an experiment in what happens when a traditional VFX and motion-design workflow is rebuilt around generative AI. The reel began with a tightly planned animatic, establishing the timing, camera movement, transitions and visual progression before individual sequences were generated and refined. AI was then used to explore material transformation, scale shifts, procedural environments, fashion, mechanical assembly, botanical growth and impossible camera movement.

Rather than treating each shot as a standalone AI image, the focus was on creating continuous visual relationships between scenes,allowing shape, movement, texture and composition to carry from one sequence into the next. Selected generations were refined, regenerated and upscaled to 4K before being composited, edited and finished in After Effects. The final piece combines generative filmmaking with traditional creative direction, editing, compositing and motion-design techniques.

Who was behind it

Peter Sinclair – Yumboxdesign. Concept, creative direction, visual development, AI direction, editing and final production. The project was conceived and directed as a Yumboxdesign exploration into how AI can extend established creative, VFX and motion-design workflows rather than simply replace them.
